The University of Louisville football team added a recruiting commitment from three-star South Carolina defensive back Zykiesis Cannon on Monday morning.
Cannon, a 5-f00t-11, 180-pound player from the Carolina Academy in Greenville, attended a U of L camp earlier this month. North Carolina, North Carolina State, Boston College and Georgia Tech were some of the other teams that had offered him a scholarship.
Cannon is ranked the No. 23 prospect in South Carolina by Rivals.com, which categorizes him as a multipositional “athlete.” He is the No. 88 cornerback nationally and the No. 27 player overall in his state, according to 247Sports.com.
Cannon is U of L’s 15th commitment in the 2014 class. The Cards lost on pledge on Sunday when Atlanta linebacker Detric Dukes flipped his commitment to home-state Georgia.
He’s the second South Carolina player to commit to Louisville in the class, joining wide receiver T.J. Foster.
